BENEFITS OF WAXING
Waxing is a highly effective hair removal method that offers several advantages over shaving, making it a popular choice for those seeking smoother, longer-lasting results. Unlike shaving, which only cuts hair at the surface level, waxing removes hair from the root. This means that it takes significantly longer for the hair to grow back, allowing you to enjoy silky smooth skin for weeks rather than days. Additionally, waxing helps reduce the risk of cuts, nicks, or scars that can occur with shaving, especially in tricky areas.
For those with sensitive skin, waxing is often a better option as shaving can cause irritation or rashes. The repetitive friction of a razor can leave the skin feeling uncomfortable, while waxing typically minimizes this risk. Over time, many people notice that waxing can actually make hair grow back slower and finer, leading to less maintenance in the long run.
One of the standout benefits of waxing is the smoother finish it provides. Because hair is pulled directly from the root, there are no stubbles left behind, unlike shaving, which often results in rough, abrasive patches as hair regrows. Waxing also avoids the itchiness that can accompany shaving, especially as the hair starts to grow back.
Contrary to the common misconception, waxing doesn’t have to be unbearably painful. With advancements in waxing techniques and products, the process can be quick, convenient, and surprisingly comfortable. The benefits far outweigh any temporary discomfort, especially considering the lasting smoothness it provides.
In addition, waxing leaves your skin less prone to the irritation often associated with frequent shaving. By choosing waxing, you can enjoy the confidence of soft, smooth skin that lasts longer, feels better, and requires less upkeep than shaving. It’s a reliable, efficient option for hair removal that keeps your skin looking and feeling its best.

What is a Brazilian?
A Brazilian wax is a type of bikini wax. With a Brazilian wax, the hair from the vulva (outer and inner labia), perineum, anus, and buttocks is completely removed. A strip of hair (in the shape of a strip or triangle) may be left on the front.
Where did Brazilian waxing come from?
As the name suggests, Brazilian waxing originated from Brazil for women who wanted to wear the new thong bikinis. Brazilian wax became famous when it was introduced into the US when a hair removal salon called J. Sisters International Salon was opened in 1987. J. Sisters International Salon was opened in Manhattan, New York by seven Brazilian sisters Jocely, Jonice, Joyce, Janea, Jussara, Juracy, and Judseia Padilha.
What types of Brazilian waxes are there?
The most common types of Brazilian waxes are the standard Brazilian (or G-wax) and full Brazilian (Hollywood). With a standard Brazilian wax or G-wax, a small line or vertical strip of hair is left above the vulva. This small line or vertical strip of hair is commonly known as the ‘landing strip’. With a full Brazilian wax or Hollywood wax (also known as ’sphynx’), all hair is completely removed.
Hot tips before waxing
Taking a warm shower before your Brazilian wax session will make you more comfortable and helps to open the pores aiding in easier removal of the hair.
Try to schedule your Brazilian wax session a week after menstruation as the genital area is less sensitive.
To make you feel less sensitive during your Brazilian wax session, try to avoid caffeine, stress, and nicotine. Be sure to have lots of sleep so that you can relax.
Hot tips after waxing
Apply soothing aloe lotion to the waxed areas.
Regular exfoliation (once daily starting two days from the date of wax) helps to remove dead skin and avoids ingrown hairs.
Moisturize the area with an unscented 24-hour body lotion after every shower.
Avoid the following for at least 24 hours after your Brazilian wax session: heat sources, such as saunas, steam rooms, sun, heavy exercise, exfoliating products such as AHA's and scrubs along with loofas and tight clothing.
Avoid hot baths/showers or sexual activity for 10 hours after a Brazilian wax session as your pores are open and vulnerable to irritation and infection.
How long does it last?
The results from a Brazilian wax may last between 3 to 6 weeks depending on your hair regrowth rate. Growth of hair is usually minimal during the first two weeks and noticeably increases in the third and fourth weeks. Hair growth is usually quicker in the summer months as heat stimulates hair growth. The length of time between treatments also decreases with regular waxing.
